Bruny Island

Bruny Island is a 15 minute vehicular ferry crossing from Kettering, and a world of its own.

In the north, gentle crescents of golden sand smile, rare birds flit through the eucalypt canopy and Dennes Point's beachside shacks snuggle into the coastal scrub.

To the south, Adventure Bay (Captain James Cook's last port of call in Australia before his tragic death in Hawaii) is a haven of history.

Between, on a narrow thread of land, known as the "Neck", penguins and shearwaters nest in the safety of the sheltering dunes.  On Bruny, you can explore lonely beaches, walk through towering rainforest and afterwards, head down to the Bruny Island Lighthouse, on a wild, windswept cape looking out across the vast expanse of the Southern Ocean.

Bruny's well maintained and signed walking tracks offer a range of treks for all ages.  Join Bruny Island Charters wildlife cruise and explore the rugged coastline, where you'll see the fur seals in their colonies, and maybe a pod of friendly dolphins or a pair of majestic sea eagles.
